A Royal Wedding at Sports Connexions, Ryton Coventry

A Royal Wedding at Sports Connexions, Ryton Coventry

Amit from Maz created a magical reception setting for Raj Khera on Sunday 12th May 2012 at Sports Connexion in Ryton when he transformed the cricket hall into a stunning marquee setting fit for a royal wedding. The Reception décor theme was hot pink and gold and Amit worked with the Khera family to create a reception theme that was both classy and contemporary. They chose to create a canopied room in the ceiling, along with crystal chandaliers. Large Pink floral table centres along ordained the tables. Chair cover hoods were selected instead of traditional bows to bring the colours out further. The marquee decoration was dramatic and very sophisticated.

For people who want to hold a large wedding with space and a convenient location, Sports Connexion ticks all the boxes. This excellent location just off the M69, with two halls to chose from – the cricket hall and the main hall to choose from. Maz of Leicester has delivered some stunning events at Sports Connexion since 1990’s. In fact not many people know that Rita Chandarana from Maz of Leicester was the first ever bride at Sports Connexion many years ago, so it is a place close to the Maz’s heart! We have some great images of events from past to present if people want to see how you can create different reception décor in a marquee.

Maz meets Sushmita Sen

Maz meets Sushmita Sen

Maz was delighted to be photographing another Bollywood starlett when she visited Leicester just recently – it was the one and only beautiful Sushmita Sen. She was invited the Silver Star Appeal’s founder-patron Leicester East MP Keith Vaz who was diagnosed with diabetes five years ago. In a whirlwind visit, Sushmita will launch Vaz's anniversary appeal for the charity organisation, which will mark his twenty five years as the Member of Parliament for Leicester East. The appeal is designed to raise funds for further mobile diabetes testing units in Mumbai and the Midlands. So far the charity's units have tested 25,000 people in schools, communities, businesses and villages for free, resulting in diabetes caught early and many lives and limbs saved. Sushmita's visit will culminate in the hotly-anticipated launch of its raffle prize, a luxury car in Leicester.
Maz also photographed hundreds of fans who flocked to the streets to catch a glimpse of Bollywood beauty Sushmita Sen, whilst she travelled through the Golden Mile. Maz loved photographing Sushmita, who was charming, relaxed and extremely humble. Maz comments; she was magical with her fans and really admired her warmth and approachable manner. She is just so naturally stunning and it was delightful to capture her during the day. The actress was at complete ease with the audience as she called a little girl up on stage and blew kisses to the people seated above her. She requested all of the audience members to get their test done and buy a raffle ticket, to be in with a chance to win a car worth £8,000, signed by her (and Amitabh Bachchan who visits the city in June). It was a great day for me.

Maz of Leicester has nominated Silver Star Appeal as their nominated charity as Maz himself has diabetes. We urge Maz of Leicester blog readers, customers and suppliers to donate generously and also have a special offer for portrait sitting bookings donating all proceeds to Silver Star appeal.

Wedding of Rina and Rajiv at Goosedale

Wedding of Rina and Rajiv at Goosedale

We want to congratulate Rina and Rajiv who got married in March at Goosedale in Paplewick, Nottingham.
As venues go, Goosedale is a venue that we love working at as we were there from the start when it was first born! We have shot so many weddings at the Goosedale, that we might as well have moved in!  The grounds are stunning, the interior still looks like it was built yesterday and Dominic and his team there are so welcoming that we feel so at home. So being the photographer for Rina and Rajiv’s Goosedale wedding felt a little totally at home.
Rina looked stunning in her wedding gown at the Civil wedding and those Jimmy Choos sparkled as she walked down the aisle with proud dad. Sukhjeet from Sajja Beauty took care  of hair and makeup and of course no wedding would be complete without magical decorations and theming by Maz. The Mandap was sparkly and contemporary and the reception was moody and sophisticated.
Rina and Rajiv’s Indian wedding ceremony took place in the marquee, with a drinks reception in the Crystal Room. The marquee was turned around for the evening reception with a party that got everyone on the dancefloor
Thank you to Dominic and his team for making us feel so welcome again at Goosedale!

Wedding of Selina and Hanish at Guoman Hotel, London

Wedding of Selina and Hanish at Guoman Hotel, London

Wedding of Selina and Hanish at Guoman Hotel, London

We want to congratulate Selina and Hanish got married in March at Guoman Tower Hotel in London.
Selina and Hanish’s Indian Wedding and Reception was special in so many ways. First of all, we took Bijal and Salil, wedding photo’s a few years ago, so it was a real privilege to get to celebrate with their lovely family once again. Secondly because the venue of London Bridge and Westminster was such an amazing backdrop for the wedding, we could take so many cool images that told a great story of the day.

Selina and her family got ready at the Guoman Hotel, where make-up artist Raj Matharu created an absolutely stunning hair do and make-up, before Selina slipped into her very beautiful red lengha – it was no ordinary lengha but one encrusted with crystal and pearls. We then headed for a beautiful traditional ceremony in the Tower Suite at the Tower Hotel.
After the ceremony, we took some stunning shots overlooking London Bridge before Selina and Hanish Snuck away for a quick change for the reception. Guests were ushered to the reception hall for drinks reception afterwhich our beautiful couple arrived with a grand entrance with dhol players leading them to their top table.
One of our favourite images was some portraits that we took of the couple in their reception outfits in midlight, which was just amazing (and amazingly chilly). They were just the most adventurous couple – just the kind that we love to work with, because regardless of how cold it was getting, Selina and Hanish just didn’t mind – they just wanted great images and smiled away.

Most of all we loved how everything about the day felt so comfortable and familiar, with everyone in both families so friendly and welcoming. And the results of the images show!
