Maz Events builds set for Suit Tera Laal Rang Da - Song - Yamla Pagla Deewana 2

Maz Events builds set for Suit Tera Laal Rang Da - Song - Yamla Pagla Deewana 2

It’s been the month that the Maz of Leicester Events team has been waiting on – the launch of the new Bollywood blockbuster Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 shows the fabulous décor and styling completed by the team. It was one of the most challenging 24hour projects, working in wind speeds of upto 40-50mph, rain and pitch darkness at Scalford Hall in Leicestershire. The results – well you can see for yourself on this youtube clip of the song:

The full set was over 20 marquees, all individually themed and dressed in an outdoor wedding theme. A wedding stage using our peacock mandap off set with drapes and crystal. It was glamorous already – but when you add sunny deol, bobby deol, dharmendraji, Neha Sharma and Kristina Akheeva – the set was even more spectacular. We would love to know what you think of the film and particularly the set we created.

New landmark for Leicester

Judges given the task of choosing a new landmark for Leicester have been offering their ideas of what it could be. A £70,000 monument is to be constructed in Rushey Mead, Leicester, outside a Sainsbury’s store which is being built there.

The aim is for the artwork – which will be paid for by the supermarket chain – to rival the Angel of the North. The panel of judges is appealing for the public and schools to come up with ideas to be considered for the site.

But yesterday, they were challenged to come up with their own ideas of what would look good on the site of the former GE Lighting bulb factory in Melton Road.

Judge Karen Hammond, who is the head teacher at nearby Mellor Primary School and an artist, said: “If it was up to me, I’d like to have a selection of wooden statues of people. “It would be like a family of ducks following the mother duck, but they would represent the different people who make Leicester what it is.”

Belgrave photographer Maz Mashru, who has won multiple Kodak Gold Awards in his career, said: “It has to be something artistic and I’d like it to be something to do with the old GE Lighting site. “So many lightbulbs were produced here it could maybe have a bulb in the design.”

Local councillor Piara Singh Clair was also keen for the landmark to incorporate the many years of bulb manufacturing on the site. “I’d like there to be a glowing
bulb on top,”he said. “The most important thing is that it’s something for the people of this area and it has to be about the legacy of the site.”

Judge Dharmesh Lakhani
, who chairs Belgrave Business Association, was keen for the nearby Golden Mile to be a feature of the artwork. He said: “It’s at one end of the Golden Mile and I’d like it to be a gateway to that in some way. “It has to be big and bright and celebrate the area. “Leicester has people from all over the world, so maybe we could have a big globe like the one outside Universal Studios in Hollywood.”

Elly Cutkelvin, Leicester City Council
member for Freemen ward, said: “I’d like something that represents not only the historic nature of the city – which we’ve all been talking about with Richard III being discovered here – but also multi-culturalism. “It should showhow proud we nare of the different elements that make up Leicester.”

The panel of judges will be chaired by Leicester East MP Keith Vaz, who said: “I have absolutely no preconceptions, although on a day like today it would be quite handy to have a giant umbrella. “Whatever it is, it needs to be eye-catching. This is an iconic site. ”

The other judges will be Leicester Mercury editor Richard Bettsworth and Sainsbury’s chief executive Justin King.

The consultation will close on June 30. To have your idea considered by the judging panel, send an e-mail to:

The theme for the Asiana catwalk 2013 designed by Maz of Leicester

The theme for the Asiana catwalk 2013 designed by Maz of Leicester

A challenge awaits each year for the Maz Events team to create and design a spectacular Asiana Bridal show Catwalk. This year was no exception – what is the 2013 wedding theme and how do we make the most gorgeous bridal wear that Asian Fashion Designers from the UK and abroad create stand out on stage? In 2013, the idea on the catwalk was glamorous and shabby chic – whilst it sounds like an oxymoron, it works when we talk about it in reference to Asian Wedding Decorations, because Asian wedding decorations always have to be glamorous! Asian Wedding and Venue theming has moved on leaps and bounds – we know because we’ve been in a Asian Wedding Decorator for over 20 years! So no longer do we see old hat silky drapes and swags from the 90’s – because so much more is out there to choose from.

So what did glamorous shabby chic mean? Take a look for yourself at the catwalk we created and make your own mind up as to what you think it means! It’s loose, cool and really Indian wedding! We would love feedback from those people who actually watched the catwalk – we loved it – but did you?
And what about backstage? The Asiana Team ran the catwalk this year and wow did they do a great job – WE LOVED IT! It looked slick, flowed beautifully from the outside but internally - the logistics and operations ran like the best, super powered engine – Ferrari – nah meet the F1 Asiana team - Credit to Anisha Vasani , Puja Majithia, Sarwar Ahmed, Ashok Dhawan and the rest of the Asiana team for the most incredibly run catwalk that we know for sure!

It’s Snow business for wimps - Maz does Snow photography

Whilst most people would choose to stay in during cold and snowy weather – Maz decided to pick up his camera and have fun taking some stunning classical portraits in the snow and contemporary snow images. His very brave sitters, were seriously cold but they loved every minute of the shoot and the images look like they really enjoyed their experience of being photographed by Maz. Pre-wedding portraits are great in different terrains and this weather is really atmospheric for couples photography in the snow weather it is brides in the snow of couples in the snow!

Our favourite in Asian wedding decorations in Nottingham in 2012

Our favourite in Asian wedding decorations in Nottingham in 2012

We had a really fun year in 2012 and thought we would share some of our favourite Indian wedding decorations that we created in each town.

We created an exciting range of Wedding Stages in Nottingham at venues such as;
•    Kelham Hall
•    The Belfry Nottingham
•    Crowne Plaza Nottingham
•    East Midlands Conference Centre
•    Nottingham University
•    Wollaton Hall
•    Thrumpton Hall
These stage backdrops were used for a variety of events such as reception stages, Mehndi Stages, Nikkah Stages and Walima Stages. Asian Wedding Stages in Nottingham venues are bespoke to the venue décor and styling so brides that booked us knew that we would create Asian wedding stages that would be sympathetic to the size, shape and design of the venue. Indian wedding stages are hard to choose as there are so many options and ideas available from the Maz range. Our Events Team have worked tirelessly to create unique wedding decorations and Asian wedding services to suit individual needs to create magical events every time and that’s why when it comes to Nottingham Asian Wedding Stages – then Maz of Leicester is always on the list to choose from.

Then we created Indian Mandaps in Nottingham venues – take a look at some of the images from 2012 events at;
•    Alrewas Hayes
•    Britannia Hotels
•    Goosedale Banqueting Centre
•    Kelham Hall Nottingham
•    Osmaston Park
•    Park Pride Stadium
•    Village Hotel Nottingham
•    Wollaton Park
•    Thrumpton Hall
As well as many banqueting halls

Our wedding mandaps and wedding mandap decorations are as unique as our wedding stages. The Indian wedding mandaps in our range consist of traditional and contemporary mandaps. In Nottingham mandaps are very much dependant on the size and styling of the venue. For some venues, mandaps will require stages and other venues will have restrictions on stages. Wedding Mandaps whilst functional, can also be stylish and unusual. If you are planning an engagement, reception or Walimah, mandap decorations can be used as top tables or wedding stage backdrops too. Our Events Team have worked tirelessly to create unique wedding mandap designs and Asian wedding decorations to suit venues and the atmosphere that you want to create. When it comes to Nottingham Asian Wedding Mandaps – then Maz of Leicester should be top of your list.

Then finally, we created a range of Asian Wedding backdrops and reception decorations that were stunning and seriously unique for brides and grooms. Take for example our candlewall backdrop, which we created as a unique product as an Asian Wedding Stage Backdrop or Top table Backdrop. The candle wall was very popular in Nottingham venues as an Asian toptable backdrop as people love candles for wedding backdrops for their venue decor. There were many other elegant wedding backdrops that the Maz Events Team create that are versatile to use at many venues across Nottingham such as;
•    Derby Conference Centre
•    Goosedale Nottingham
•    Pride Park Stadium
•    Eastwood Hall
•    Belfry Hotel Nottingham
•    Thrumpton Hall
As well as many banqueting halls
