Magical Weddings start with great suppliers and of course the Maz touch!

Magical Weddings start with great suppliers and of course the Maz touch!

The Maz Events team were put to the test to deliver the most magical event for their very own team member – Kavita who married Arjun Desai from Kudos on 24th November 2012 at NEC Hilton Metropole Hotel.
The task was challenging. Kavita has been attending  and decorating weddings week in and week out and creating beautiful themes for other brides – where do we start with hers???!!!!
Firstly the venue – Metropole Hilton – a beautiful location, lovely surroundings, stunning rooms. We had our events in the Westminster Suite, the Library was used for breakfast, lunch and dinner and then Grand Reception in the Palace Suite and each room was dressed differently to reflect the mood we wanted to set  – a big thanks to Chrissy at Hilton Metropole, the Itihaas team and the Madhus team for making all the adjustments and helping with all our requests!

Kavita’s and our look – We’re not tooting our own trumpets but all the Mashru women, bridesmaids and Kavita looked beautiful courtesy of Sukhjeet and Prabhjyot from Sajja Beauty. They worked tirelessly for days on determining the right look for each of us, planning the colours, hairstyles that suited us and the final results were different for every single look. As for Kavita – wow she looked breath-taking and different everytime. Sophisticated and elegant at the civil wedding, bright and beautiful at the chunni ceremony, fun and sassy at the mendhi night, serene and demure at the wedding and then sexy and glamorous at the reception – all that from Midlands best Asian Wedding Make-up Artist – Sajja Beauty. They made us feel calm, made us laugh, cried with us and rocked on the dancefloor. Great friends, great suppliers and seriously the best make-up artists. You want different Asian wedding looks? The theme we chose was organic, natural and very unusual. Enchanted Forest meets Spring. We created a stunning mandap for Kavita made entirely of trees and branches with all the finishing touches from a garden – grass, birds, flowers and butterflies. The setting was magical as the sitar music played in the backdrop courtesy of Paresh Parmar from Heartbeat entertainment and Kiki the violinist from Birmingham string quartet escorted her down the aisle. It was an enchanting and spine tingling entrance – I am sure the readers of the blog and attendees of the wedding would agree. During the fera ceremony Rina Soni sang traditional songs like an angel. Rajiv Sharma conducted a ceremony beautifully – he was thoroughly entertaining, interactive with guests, explained the ceremony so well that even the very married people in the room – sat up and listened – there were certainly lots of whispers “Oh that why we did that”. If you want a great priest look no further than Hindu Priest, Rajiv Sharma 020 8864 1185 - www.hindupriest.co.uk.

The organisation of the event – you can’t beat our friend Parvy Rakar and team who ran our events throughout the week with military precision. People knew where they needed to be, she worked fantastically with both families, things happened when they needed to happen, suppliers and the hotel were managed. The quality and attention to detail in her thought process, forward thinking and reaction to occurrences is so fast that even we were surprised – and we have worked with her before. Don’t leave things to chance on your event – call Parvy, the investment and your sanity is well worth it. www.parvyrakar.com. She made our wedding happen and the Maz team would like to extend their thanks to a great job!

People debate about toastmasters – what do they do?? They lead guests, work with the planner to keep people informed, give instructions, host the event and draw attention to the crucial parts of the ceremony. Our toastmaster Howard should be given a prize for being able to control the Mashru and Desai guests. What a difference someone in a red coat makes! People talk about the food at weddings and our food is still being talked about – wow - Itihaas created so many mouth-watering flavours throughout the day – we all stopped for seconds – and Amit from Maz had more than seconds!!!! The morning was a lovely breakfast – warm, traditional and so nicely served. It set the day’s mood off with guests wondering what was after such a nice nastha. Lunch was a fusion of traditional Guajarati food and a slight north Indian twist. The menu was vegetarian – all the traditional catering that you would expect at a Gujarati Wedding with twists that were exciting! Mango Shrikhand, Kachori, Dhal, Matter Paneer – MMmmmm. Then comes to the evening meal. The reception kicked off with a stunning array of canapés – vegetarian canapés with oriental, Indian and English twists. The main meal was delicious with some signature dishes that were Raj Rana’s secret recipes – the colonel will never reveal the flavours and we just can’t describe them. The service, as you would expect was faultless and just what you would expect from Itihaas. If you are considering a wedding – you would be missing the best if you did not make a b-line for award-winning Itihaas and the Raj Rana’s team – thanks to Raj, Sumitha and Rafi for just the best catering!!!  www.itihaas.com

Then comes to the music and entertainment. When there’s a marriage between Kudos and Maz – what do you get? A seriously great party. The party and music was wild – we had so many DJ’s under one roof, if they weren’t DJing they were drinking and dancing! The music could not be stopped! Kudos added the finishing touches to our event with some stunning lighting effects. People underestimate the impact of lighting and in a room such as the Palace Suite at Hilton Metropole NEC, lighting is needed. We thank Rajen, DJ H, Jas Johal and all the Kudos team for making the party so special and enhance all our lovely decorations to make the impact it did. www.kudosroadshow.com.

The entertainment was a real crowd pleaser – the petal arch, the bhangra bot, street dancers, jazz musicians – they were all out for the best party in town. Check out other wedding entertainment ideas on our website and if you’re stuck for ideas just call us!

Cake – Nyree – your cakes make us smile – the cupcakes were a treat as favours were served by our Cinderella’s on stilts. For the most yummy cakes try http://www.sugarblisscakecompany.co.uk.
Then it comes the drinks – we nearly ran the bar dry – boy did we drink and the madness of our crowds and the drinks was managed by Kunal and his team from Single or Double Events . Mocktails, Cocktails, Shots and mixers – he had them all – and served them all! There were many sore heads at breakfast on Sunday! http://www.singleordoubleevents.co.uk/

On a serious and sensible note, we decided to book our own security team to ensure that the party ran smoothly and guests had a safe and enjoyable time. Nothing was a hassle for Darren and David and team and instead of standing like bouncers inside the room, they mingled with guests and helped with all sorts of requests. www.Innerguardsecurity.co.uk is a team you can trust with your event and you can feel confident to leave them in charge of guest relations whilst you can let your hair down!

Now it comes to the reception theming – a vintage theme to suit the brides vintage wedding gown with an ivory colour reception theme. We created a bespoke top table backdrop, feather table centres, birdcage table centres, fairy light canopies – everything was thought of with stunning attention to detail. We launched our new blossom trees to fit in with the organic and natural theme. The top table backdrop was a giant birdcage that we made to fit the vintage themed wedding reception. It was a fairy-tale wedding reception for a fairy-tale bride. Asian Wedding Decorations were taken to another level to pay homage to Kavita – who has worked with the Maz Events Team to make the dream come true of so many Asian brides nationwide! The look in real life was stunning and no matter how well we photograph the event – the real thing had to be seen!

Finally, if we did not have the world’s most respected, artistic and talented photographers and videographers in the room, we would not be able to show such amazing images. Maz Mashru, Amish Thakrar, Dino cappelletti, Laura Venditti, Martin Abela, Roberto colacioppo, Tom Lee, Michaela Vitarelli have all taken some amazing wedding photography for Kavita. Asian Wedding Photography could not be more exciting and creative with all of these people giving their own interpretation of the event. Contemporary, fashionable, classical, traditional, romantic – every word you can think of describes the beautiful Indian wedding photography. We thank everyone for their contribution and stunning images.
